Chandler celebrated his 6th birthday yesterday. I planned a Star Wars party for him, that has consumed my life the last few weeks. I didn't realize how into I got. Planning parties is actually pretty fun when you have a theme like Star Wars. He is totally into the original Star Wars, none of this Clone Wars stuff. The party agenda went something as follows. When the kids arrived we had them go downstairs to find three asteroid rocks (balls wrapped in tin foil). Which Spencer hid and I think we still have a bunch hidden in our family room, we will find them as we move furniture back probably. Then we played pass the Death Star around, pretty similar to hot potato but with a balloon. The balloon was filled with little balls and confetti so it was to sound like the Death Star was exploding. It was on to Stick the sticker onto a numbered space ship and whichever team got the highest score won. The kids wanted to do musical chairs so we did that while we waited for the food to be done. We had downloaded the Star Wars soundtrack, so that serenaded us through the events. The menu was: Droid Dogs and Bobo Fett Buns (hot dogs and buns); Vader Veggies; Ships and Dip (chips and dip); Light Saber Rods (pretzel rods); Anakins apples. After we enjoyed our delicious space food we did the Darth Vader pinata. It was funny because the second child that hit it, broke it. The kids were sad for a second before rushing to fill their little hands with candy. Luckily we had given them their goody bags after they did the rock search...so some left with a bag full of candy..sorry parents. Then it was present time and man did Chan get the haul...all the presents were fabulous and will get used very much. We ended the party with two circular cakes. One was decorated like the planet Tatooine with a Darth Vadar candle (since that was the planet Anakin was from)and the other with Yoda stuck in a planet Earth. After the party animals left he played with neighborhood kids until it was time for dinner and then opening more presents that were from us and his grandparents. He had a fabulous day and thank you all that joined with us in this fun filled day and for all the fantastic gifts.
