Fire Station

A few weeks ago one of our friends set up a time to visit the fire station. The kids really enjoyed going and learning all about what firemen do. They got to see the inside of a fire station and the bays where they keep the fire engines and ambulances. They actually got a call while we were there, so we had to cut the visit a little short. Everytime we pass a fire station now the kids ask if we can go see it. They are building a new one near us, that we will have to visit when it gets finished next month.

Kindergarten graduation

This post has been a harder one for me to post. Chandler had a Kindergarten celebration on the last day of school June 16. It was a hard day for me, considering that we have decided to hold him back a year. We have decided that it would be best if Chandler had another year of Kindergarten to help with his speech, and reading. I had feelings that I had somehow failed as a parent with his reading and speech. For a long time he did not quite understand why he was going to be in Kindergarten again and have Mrs. T again. Now he actually tells people that he is going to be in Kindergarten again to help with his reading levels, so that makes me feel a little better. The whole month of July he has extended school year 5 days a week for 3 hours a day. He seems to really be enjoying it and actually asks if he is going today. It is great to see how excited he is to learn new things and he loves going to school. So the month of July is going to consist of me driving two hours a day to get him there and back. We have finished the first week and it isn't too bad driving him. It makes the day go by faster. It has been extremely hot the past few weeks, so it gets the kids out of the house for a little while a day.

Sleeping Beauties

My kids have gotten in the kick of having sleepovers together. Chandler's bed seems to be the one that they congregate to. Spencer and Lexie had fallen asleep in the end of Chandler's bed. So when Chan went to get into bed his siblings were taken half of the bed. I thought that they looked pretty cute. Lexie and Spencer woke up crying about midnight, so they did not quite make it through the night. Since then they have tried to have a sleepover downstairs, Chandler has been the only one to make it more than a few hours.

Zoo

It is amazing what can happen in about a month. The first part of June we got together with some friends and went to the National Zoo. It was a pretty warm day for June, but we enjoyed ourselves. I think the kiddos were a little bummed that they did not see more animals, but what can you do right?

My 3 cute boys

I finally got pictures of my three boys updated. Chandler and Spencer's birthdays were two months ago, and I finally got around to getting their pics done. Poor Wesley has only got two professional pictures done. JCPenney is really crazy because they only let you do once person a day when you are using coupons, so we went there three days in row. What I will do to save money I guess. It worked out probably to the best, then they were all in top form and not having to wait long. The guy that did Spencer's did a fabulous job. He took over 30 pics of him and they all turned out really cute. I had the same lady for Wesley and Chandler, she was kind of boring. She didn't really use any props, I had to ask for the letters of six. I think that they turned out pretty cute.

SVU Education Conference

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend a education conference with some friends. This was my second year attending this conference and the theme this year was"Be of Good Cheer", a ton better than last year. I went down with two of my friends from our ward. It was at the church owned Southern Virgina University. We left really, really late on Thursday night and stopped at the Hampton Inn. One of the requirements to the hotel was to have a continental breakfast in the morning. So while driving around we looked on Terilynnes's droid to find one. Chayoi and Terilynne went in and decided at 1 in the morning to start up a gospel discussion with the young man checking us in. I stayed in the car waiting and I thought that they had decided to go up to the room and fall asleep without me, it took them forever :) On Friday we got there halfway through the keynote speaker; Ann M. Dibb. President Monson's daughter, it was a great talk. This is a really small campus so the gym was pretty small and that meant that we were pretty close to the speaker even seating in the back. All of the talks were based upon the theme and they were excellent. Speakers consisted of three BYU professors; Anne Dibb; Brother and Sister Walker (her dad was Pres. Hinkley); and a General Authority. From that list you know that it had to be excellent. Friday evening we got to see the school's play Annie get your gun; and I must say it was really fun. The food was delicious, we ate in their cafeteria. Breakfast was huge, alot more than I usually eat. Lunch was boxed lunches and still had a ton of yummy food in them. Dinners consisted of a really good roast beef and the other night a turkey dinner. It was fabulous being able to sit and actually eat without little kids screaming at me. We slept in the nice new dorms, that had three beds and a bathroom in the room. Saturday after all the uplifiting speakers we got front row seats to Jenny Oaks Baker. So we were just a few feet away from her, since again it is a very small campus with small rooms. All in all it was a great conference and a great girls weekend away. Anyone in the G1 ward really needs to come with us next year, another great theme:) You feel so refreshed getting a few days away from the craziness of life.

Spence's 3 Yr. Old preschool graduation

A few weeks ago Spencer graduated the three year old preschool class. Now he moves onto going four days a week to get ready for Kindergarten. Their theme this year was the beach. So Spencer is all decked out in beachwear. He did not sing any of the songs, he just kind of stood there. At least he did not sit and pick his nose like he did for the Christmas program. The first of the year he did not like going to school, but by the end of the year he absolutely loved it. Spencer is our very active kiddo, so he would love to play with the toys instead of listen to his teacher. So there were many times that I had a little chat with the teacher about his not listening when it was time to clean up the toys. His teacher was Mrs. Miller and she was a really good teacher. Since this is our second year at this preschool I kind of knew what kind of teacher she was. He is really looking forward to school next year. I can't believe that he is soon going to be attending Kindergarten.
