Prelude to the big storm...

Last week we had a small snowstorm that was enough to cancel schools. So we decided to make use of the hill that we have next to our house. Chan and Spence really enjoyed it, Lex not so much. She went down twice and then decided that she would rather sit at the top and watch her brothers go. This was the storm before the storm, Friday into Saturday we got a huge snowstorm.

What a week...

A word of caution this post may be on the lengthy side, so sorry in advance :). This week has been one of those weeks where you step back and hope next week is better. Last Saturday seemed to be the day it all started and it has yet to be done. Nate thanks to tax season has started to work 6 days a week. I was downstairs cleaning up the kitchen, while the kids were watching cartoons upstairs in my room. Next thing I know Chandler is running down the stairs telling me that Lex and Spence have gotten into my scrapbook box. I run up there and all the loose pics were all over my room, some bent up pretty good. They had also found some permanent markers and colored all over my sheets and a wall in our room and closet. While I was cleaning that mess up while in their room they proceed to tear apart their room. Needless to say I made them go outside to run around for a little while. Sunday was the same struggling with the kids during church. Monday and Tuesday we had a few minor incidents of chaos. On Wednesday they had no school because of a few inches of snow, very lame. So we went outside to go sledding, got some of their wiggles out. For some reason that day Spencer decided to pee on the floor in front of the sliding glass door about three times. This seems to be an almost everyday occurrence lately. I have tried everything to get him to stop, has not helped yet. We are going to have to replace carpet probably in the next year or so, because of it. Then Lexie and Spencer were coloring on the dry erase board that we have and I turn around and they have colored all over the wall behind them and each other. On Thursday we had the builders in to fix all the nail pops, so for four hours I had to try to keep two very active kids out of the way. Plus Wesley did not have anywhere to take a nap, so he was a little fussy. The HVAC people were suppose to come fix some problems and never showed up. I have had issues with them since last summer. After dinner we did the normal bathtime routine, and Lexie refused to have a towel on and clothes on, she just stood in our room screaming at the top of her lungs. We have a lovely snowstorm coming, so Nate thought it would be a good idea to go grocery shopping really late last night. We thought oh the grocery stores are open 24 hours, wrong. I got to the store about 11:45 and the store closed at 12, so much for a relaxing shopping experience. I think that the store ran out of everything. The one set of bananas looked as though they had been through a fight. They did not have any hamburger, chicken, bread, or yeast to make bread. Of course we are all out of hamburger and chicken, just my luck. So here I am literally running up and down the aisles grabbing things, which some I didn't even need. There were three loaves of bread...but they were the really expensive kind which my kids don't like. I got out of there spending way too much, since there was no time to really think about what I was putting in my cart. So shopping late at night does not always pay off. I think I would have been better to go right after dropping Chan off at the bus this morning, like I normally do. Today before it even reached 7:30 Chan informed me that one of my statues got broken. My neighbor brought back a really neat statue from Uganda (spelling?). Super glue does not fix this type of ceramic, so I think it is lost. I thought oh it will be safe in my china closet, very wrong. Then I was downstairs trying to clean the kitchen and I went to check on Spence and Lex and she had pulled off her diaper and smeared the contents on my floor. If that was not bad enough she had gotten all my tampons and used some of them to clean it up (sorry kind of gross). Spencer had spread a packet of hot cocoa all over the floor, I didn't even see him get one out. I've decided that I no longer can take a shower, go to the bathroom, eat, or do any cleaning...since that is when all these lovely things seem to happen. Since they predict a big snowfall Chan got out early today, so maybe he can help keep an eye on his crazy brother and sister. I am hoping that the rest of the day goes better. There are days when I wonder why? My kids will probably keep doing these things, it is hard because for the next few months I get to deal with it on my own for 6 out of 7 days a week. Hopefully I haven't lost all my sanity by April.

Lex's Stats

I took Lexie in for her 2 year check-up, one that was almost forgotten. I've been really good up until this point of scheduling all the kids appointments on time, until now. I was going to schedule Wesley's 6 month one and remembered that I needed to do her 2 year one. I guess since I'm only three weeks late it isn't too bad. Well anyway she is growing like a little weed. She is 36 inches, 27 pounds, so she is still pretty high up on the charts. Lex definitely does not have any problem eating anything and everything you put in front of her.

Many faces of Lexie

I went last week to get Lexie's pictures taken for her second birthday. She was all smiles in the car and then when we got there not so much. I think they still look cute though, I'm a little biased.

Moving rooms around...

We decided that Wesley needed his own room again, we have rearranged our kids a few times in the last few months. Right after Wesley was born he was in with us and then we moved Chan and Spence down to the basement. And then we decided the flow of the night and morning routines was off. Since we only have bathrooms on the top floor, it posed as a little problem. So we moved the boys back upstairs and moved Lexie and Wesley together. Then that wasn't really working and so when Lex got her big girl bed we moved her with Chan and Spence. Nate moved everything around last Saturday while I was at the store. It looks like everyone got into it.

Lexie's 2ND Birthday

Our little girl celebrated her second birthday last week. Lexie is such a joy to have in our house. She is always getting into mischief, we have to keep our eyes on her. Whenever Wesley is awake she wants to be holding and playing with him. Wesley loves his big sister and she seems to be in his face all the time. Chan and Spence love playing dolls and dragons with her. She is the happiest little girl most of the time. She can go from just fine to screaming her head off in a few seconds. She is currently into Disney princesses and Dora. She got a lot of princess stuff for her birthday, she was in heaven. We moved her into a big girl bed and she absolutely loves being with her older brothers. Her and Spence come up with some of the funniest little sayings. It is amazing how fast time has gone by the last two years. I look at her and still see my baby girl. She is really turning into a cute little girl. Her personality is definitely coming out, and she has a mind of her own. This little girl is one that knows what she wants and lets you know when she doesn't like something.

Christmas

We had a great Christmas. Christmas Eve we did our yearly tradition of watching Mr. Kruegers Christmas, drinking hot cocoa, reading out of Luke, and then setting out cookies and milk for santa. Christmas morning the kiddos woke up around 6:30 and wanted to see what Santa had brought them. Nate still wanted to sleep, so I took the kids down in the basement to watch t.v., that lasted all of about 30 minutes. We started to open presents without Nate and finally after opening all of them, Chan went up there and dragged Nate out of bed. The kids got tons of fun stuff and didn't want to take them down to the toy room. We had a great breakfast and then got a delicious meal ready. Ryan and Anne came over later for a great dinner. We had a fun filled day.
